Mrs.
Thompson is a Suzuki violin, piano, and guitar teacher. She continues
her life long studies of music through teacher training courses
at Summer Institutes for the Suzuki method. She is also one of Bruce Anderson's Piano teacher's in the St. Petersburg area. Teaching a child absolute
perfect technique from the very beginning is the responsibility
of any Suzuki music teacher. Children as young as three years old
study the Suzuki Method with Mrs. Thompson.
As a string teacher Mrs. Thompson was Music Director from 1998-2001
at John Hopkins Middle School in St. Petersburg, Fl. She taught
beginning violin, viola and cello. John Hopkins students performed
twice a year at school and they performed at the St. Petersburg
Pier and Tyrone Square.
Teaching has been her passion since 1991. She attended University
of South Florida and while attending college she performed with
the University Symphony Orchestra and performed with professional
musicians like Vic Damone, Jane Powell, Al Hirt and guest conductor
George Steinbrenner. She is currently a violinist with the Tampa Bay Symphony. Over the years she has performed with Suncoast Symphony, and Summit
Music Society.
Fundraising for the SPCA is another one of her passions. Students dress up like their favorite furry animal and perform all over the Tampa Bay area raising money for the SPCA. If theirs a fundraiser for the SPCA you'll see Mrs. Thompson dressed as the "Cat and the Fiddle," along with her furry friends, called "The Pawsicians."
Thompson's Studio has several various groups that you can join. If you like fiddle music then you might want to join the "Camp Fire Fiddlers." Students have an opportunity to enter the State Fiddle Contest held every year at the Florida Folk Festival. This group is for everyone of all ages. Bring your fiddle, guitar, banjo, and juice harp for a fun time learning fiddle and folk music. There are master classes offered by top performers in this type of music.
Suzuki group lessons are offered to any student studying the Suzuki Method that is looking for something extra to do. She also offers classes specializing in jam sessions.
Mrs. Thompson has a string quartet called "Reflections." They perform all over the Tampa Bay area for weddings, art gallery openings, restaurants, beach hotels at sunset, and many other places.
