Suzuki Pre-Twinkle Program

The Suzuki Method is a Japanese method developed in the 1940's by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. It’s based on Japanese parenting, teaching and learning principles. Dr. Suzuki discovered that children the world over can learn their own language with ease and without ever having to go to school to learn such complicated languages as the Japanese language. He applied the basic principles of learning a language to learning the violin.

He called this way of learning the “Mother Tongue” approach. The Suzuki Method works together with the parent teaching the child music the same way they learn to speak their own language. Dr. Suzuki developed his method by using Mozart's Twinkle variations to teach students the mastery of the violin. Students learn absolute perfect technique from the beginning in a familiar and fun way. Suzuki believed that if a child can learn their language through listening to adults speak, then they can learn to play the violin or piano through listening to the recording and modeling students they observe.

In April of 1964 Dr. Suzuki introduced his unique method of string training called "Talent Education" to America. He brought his young violinists to America to show that
“any child can” learn to play the violin. The aim of the Suzuki program is to give young people the experience of playing great music together or individually and in becoming increasingly sensitive to all that is beautiful and artistic in life.
